Latest end of the H-1B grace period (conservative reading)

MondayDecember 7, 2026

Last day paid for work: Friday, October 9, 2026. Up to 60 days, counted conservatively; earlier if the I-94 or petition ends first.

  1. Last day of employmentOct 9, 2026day 0
  2. Grace period ends at the latestDec 7, 2026+59 days
  3. USCIS archived guidance: day 60 (context)Dec 8, 2026+60 days

Why "with the rule behind it"

  • Cited. Every date names its source: the Code of Federal Regulations, the Federal Register, USCIS or the State Department.
  • Conservative. Where a rule can be read two ways, we show the earlier date and label the other as context.
  • Honest about limits. If a rule is unsettled or depends on facts we can't see, we don't compute a date. We show the source and suggest an attorney.
  • Private. The calculators run in your browser. We count that a calculation happened, never what you entered.

Get Priority when it's ready

Priority is a planned iPhone app. It would read your I-797, I-94, EAD, visa and passport on your phone, then show every date on one timeline with the rule behind each date, remind you ahead of time, and show your Visa Bulletin position each month. It does not exist yet. We're checking whether enough people want it before building it.

We store your email, when you agreed, which page you joined from, and your answer to the price question if you give one. Nothing else: not your visa type, country or the dates you typed above. We don't sell or share it. Remove yourself any time with the button that appears after you join. Privacy details. Consent wording version 2026-10-09.v1.
